The Need of all Fivefold Ministry Gifts

The Church of Christ in Europe is in a shamefully weak shape. This is mainly because congregations have not received all the fivefold ministry gifts to minister to the Body. This has to be changed in order to bring any glory to God in our backslidden continent. Europe will be lost without prophets and apostles!

The Need of all Fivefold Ministry GiftsThe Need of all Fivefold Ministry GiftsPäivi HeikkiläGod is restoring the early church back, as it is closest to the teachings of Lord Jesus Himself and His apostles. The model we seen there is the one we should have also today. The Church needs the revelation apostles and prophets have even today to bring foundational understanding and order to the whole Body. They were the ones coming together with the elders to seek God for the churches how to deal with different challenges. Sending letters and visiting personally all the churches they strengthened the Body and gave direction and clarity those in local positions.

Pastors have been bearing too heavy charge almost alone, and they are in need of help. The first step to this is to see that God has apostles and prophets even today. The second step is to receive each other and to learn to work together. Those in the fivefold ministry gifts have to understand we have not been called for ourselves, but for the Body. Moses understood God called him because of His people. David understood the same when anointed to be the king of Israel. We are responsible to the Lord for the present condition of His Body in our nations.

I take here three huge tasks where we need to have all the fivefold ministry gifts in order to succeed. We can see the procedure for these tasks already in the Old Testament.

1) To have victory over the national evil principality in our nations

The picture for this is David overcoming Goliath (1.Samuel 17). Goliath here is representing the prince of the adversary, the Philistines, boasting in front of the Israelites. This situation had already became status quo, until David comes representing Lord Jesus with his shepherd’s bag. He took five stones from the brook, rose up and run against Goliath taking a stone from his bag, throwing it to Goliath’s forehead and bringing him down.

The Lord Jesus cannot rise up in His Body in your nation, if He doesn’t have all the five stones in His bag. The Body is not ready for His uprising without having the input of apostles and prophets. It is too weak. In order to have the believers been built to be soldiers they have to be prepared with the insight and anointing of apostolic and prophetic ministry. The lack of this is the reason we have not been able to throw down the evil principality in our nations in order to see revival.

2) To take our cities

How we can take our nation city by city? With the example of king Jehoshaphat (2.Chronicles 17). He placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah. Verse 4 says:

“he sought the God of his father, and walked in His commandments and not according to the acts of Israel”.

This sentence is saying much! David was Jehoshaphat’s forefather. Jehoshaphat removed the idolatry from Judah. He did this by sending his highest leaders to teach the cities of Judah. If you count the names of those you get five! This is a picture of fivefold ministry gifts, the five highest officers of Jesus Christ. With them he sent Levites, and counting them you get nine. This is a picture of nine gifts and nine fruits of the Spirit. And with them he sent the two priests, which means the Word and the Spirit.

Verses 9-10:

“So they taught in Judah, and had the Book of the Law of the Lord with them; they went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught the people. And the fear of the Lord fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.”

This is how we can take our cities; with all the fivefold ministry gifts involved.

3) To raise up an Army of God in Europe

The operating model for this is how God built Gideon’s army (Judges 7). Only those who submitted themselves to receive orders from the hand of God, which is the fivefold ministry gifts, were included. First in gathering the army, all those who feared had to withdraw. Then God Himself chose to Gideon those he had to take with him. God said to take them to the river, where He would test them to him. All those who drank the water straight from the river had to be forsaken, and those who took the water from their hand were to take. The water represents the Word of God. The hand represents the five offices; the thump an apostle, the index finger a prophet, the middle finger an evangelist, the ring finger a pastor and the little finger a teacher. This is the hand of God to lead.

To build an Army of God takes all the fivefold ministry gifts to prepare the soldiers and to give orders how to go on in the war. The main thing in successful fight is to keep together under the orders of the warlord. But if there is no governance with all the generals in place under him, there is no functional leadership and no hope for victories.

Building the Body of Christ

In addition of these three challenges, there is of course the main task we have; to build the Body of Christ. Ephesians 4:10-16 describes this. In verses 11-13 the whole thing is said clearly:

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

In other words: in order to get this thing done, we badly need today apostles and prophets to give their input to the structure. There is no other way to come to the fullness. Apostles and prophets carry the foundational revelation even today and are the fundamental stones the building to stand under the cornerstone which is Jesus Christ Himself. They are those servants the Lord Himself, the owner of the Vineyard, has sent for His purposes. The keepers of the Vineyards have to receive them, if they wish not to be forsaken by the Landlord. Lord Jesus said He will not come until we say: blessed are those who come in the Name of the Lord. If we don’t receive the ones He has sent, we are not receiving Himself. This is the stumbling block the Bible is speaking about. There is a great need of the fear of God today in the Church of Christ and humbleness to submit under the

Apostles and prophets need to come together to get encouraged and strengthened as we have been much alone in our nations and in many cases misunderstood and underestimated. I see Lord Jesus throwing His huge and heavy golden sword to His apostles and prophets in Europe to crap it together and together to fight against His enemies. He has much trust in us! He takes pleasure in seeing us rising up all over Europe and coming together to lift His Name above all other names. He is building His government in Europe. We expect to see the whole fullness of God’s purposes in His Body!

European Apostolic Leaders (EAL) is a God given place to gather together to seek Him and to learn from each other and together to prepare to move forward to the unity of all the fivefold ministry gifts. For myself I feel like I’m coming finally to a long desired harbor and am already enjoying to see you all in March in Oslo! Again, the thanks goes to someone obeying God in His callings, Jan-Aage and his wife Aina. Let’s keep praying for them and for each other!
